What is a Brazilian?
The Brazilian wax originated in a place where beach thongs abound and the incredible
rate at which it's sweeping the world can leave little doubt that there truly must be something special about it. The Brazilian wax basically takes it ALL away sometimes
leaving just a tiny strip of closely shorn hair in the front (which is then referred to by
some as a "landing strip", a "playboy" or inverted "v").
What can I do to prepare?
Avoiding caffeine for 5 hours before getting waxed will greatly reduce sensitivity.
Caffeine restricts the blood vessels so skin is not getting as much blood flow which increases sensitivity. Taking an Ibuprofen 1 hour before will aid in reducing sensitivity
and inflammation. We also carry PFB topical anesthetic which you may purchase and
apply 15-20 min. before your appointment.
Does it hurt?
There is some pain involved, however most women find it quite tolerable. Our
estheticians work quickly and because of our proprietary technique the pain is greatly minimized.
How long should I wait to get waxed after I’ve shaved?
3-4 weeks is recommended. It takes time to grow out each of the 3 cycles. If you come
in prematurely you may not achieve a desirable result.
How often should I make an appointment?
We recommend booking every 4 to 6 weeks.
Is it OK to shave between wax appointments?
Waxing slows down and reduces hair growth. Hair also grows much thinner thus
making it easier to remove and less painful when waxed. Shaving just one time in
between will negate all that is gained from waxing and can further irritate follicles
which can cause ingrown hair. So, no, we don’t advise shaving in between.
How long will it last?
If you have been waxing consistently and following a proper exfoliation regime, you will start to achieve up to 4 weeks of hairlessness. It may take a couple of wax appointments
to acquire this result. Your esthetician will educate you on how to fully benefit from
I'm on my period. Can I get waxed?
If possible, avoid scheduling your appointment just before or during your menstrual cycle. We recommend this only because we tend to be most sensitive during this time.
How long does it take?
What can I expect afterwards?
The waxed skin might be tender for a couple of days. We advise taking Ibuprofen to decrease inflammation and skin sensitivity. Skin may break out in tiny bumps, especially when waxed for the first time. This reaction will clear quickly.. We recommend applying Hydrocortisone cream to speed healing.
What can I do about ingrown hair?
Exfoliating in the shower with a body brush everyday helps to keep the skin free from cellular buildup which can trap hair. We carry PFB which helps to prevent and clear the
skin of ingrown hair.
Is waxing sanitary?
Yes! We always sanitize the room before each client. We wear disposable gloves at all times and the towels are changed after each client and disinfected when washed. We never double dip our wax sticks.
Are there any topical creams or medications that I should avoid prior to
Yes! Internal Medication such as Accutane and topicals that include Retin-A, Salicylic
Acid, Glycolic Acid,Differin,Tazorac,Avage,Strivectin,Renova,ProActive,Avita,Benzoyl Peroxide. All of the above mentioned can enhance skin sensitivity that could lead to
lifting of the skin when removing hair.
Can I tan before or after I get waxed?
You should wait 3-5 days to get waxed after you have tanned. You should never get
waxed if you are sunburned or even if skin is pink. The very top layer of skin could pull
off or "lift" which is painful and can result in scabbing. You should wait for 3 days after
you have waxed to tan. Waxed skin is more photosensitive and is more susceptible to burning.
Do I need an appointment?
We do accept walk-ins however we recommend scheduling in advance so as to avoid an extended wait. Please be aware that we book our brow and Brazilian appointments every
30 min. Please be early or on time to avoid losing your appointment. If you’re unable to keep an appointment we appreciate calling within 24 hours prior if possible. If your
service is 1/2 hour or longer we may request a credit card number to hold your appointment. You will not be charged unless you fail to cancel within 24 hours.
Are there any age restrictions?
We do not offer the Brazilian wax to clients under the age of 18. If you are under the age
of 18 and would like other wax services, your parent needs to come in to fill out a parent consent form. If you are under the age of 16 and wish to have a bikini wax, your parent
must be in the room during the time of service. You may be asked to provide your ID at
the time of service.
Is it alright to bring my child?
Due to the nature of our business we have a "No Child Policy". Thank you for your understanding.
